There's much to see here. Swings come in all different forms and sizes. Each is unique in their own right. below are a few examples that I have encountered and helped to improve their game.
David works hard at his game. His strong suits are off the tee and his short irons. He struggles making consistent contact and direction with the longer clubs.
Here you can see very little lower body rotation and a hunched back at the point of impact. Hips are thrusting towards the ball and doesn't give him the minimum amount of room to make good contact.
After the adjustments, we can see that the lower body is more active and the back is not hunched. In fact, the back is facing us more and the spine is more visible. He is "staying in posture" more and is able to make a fuller turn through the ball.
Dr. Abrutyn is a upcoming and inspired golfer who wants to make golf fun again. He strives to hit the ball consistent, but struggles to do so. His short game is great which saves his score.
Closer to the point of impact, you can see that the left shoulder (he is a lefty) is lower than his right. We call this a drop and his tends to drop kick or chunk a lot of his shots. When he does make good contact, he tends to flip at the ball. You can also see that his head is looking behind the ball.
As we progressed through some lessons, he was able to keep is head more stable over the ball. By moving his lower body more, he was able to "slot" the club and shoulder more on plane to make more consistent contact.
Mr. Barbrack is new player to the game of golf. He has played some sports when he was younger but doesn't play golf very much. He is a new dad and his baby takes up his time. He wants to start playing so he can enjoy the golf course with his wife.
When teaching beginners in all ages, we look at the fundamentals. Set up to the ball and any rotation in the lower/upper body. His set up the ball needed some help, but he has an abundance of body rotation which will help in progress quickly.
We were able to fix a few thing in his set up. His grip was super strong and his posture was too stiff so we adjusted accordingly. He is a slider (hips slide laterally) which led him to shanking it. So we worked on showing that back left pocket more often to get more accessibility of the club face.
